Community Kindergarten

We had a short but exciting, explosive week! We learned all about volcanoes and did a related Science experiment. We made predictions on what would happen if we mixed water or vinegar with baking soda. Some thoughtful questions came out of our discussion about volcanoes such as:

-Why are there volcanoes underwater?

-How does magma form?

-What are the types of volcanoes?

We also did a guided drawing of the word MOM, learned how to curl in gym, further explored colour mixing, and practiced for our celebration of learning! Thank you to all the parents that could make it!

French Kindergarten
We have finished the first part of our Alpha program (vowels) and are ready to move onto part 2 - long consonants. We are starting to focus on the sounds of the first letter in a word and brainstorming words that start with the same sound.

 In math we are continuing to focus on representing numbers 1-5 and counting to numbers 1-12 on a number line.

We have started a new unit in French all about body parts- here are two songs we have been practicing in class

Announcements:

On Friday, November 15th we will be having a practice lock down. This can at times be a bit frightening for students who have never done it before. Please have a discussion with your child about how we practice for unsafe scenarios just so we are always prepared. Your teacher will also coach your child and answer any questions they have about the lockdown. 

Please remember that we are on a rotating 5 day cycle and the “days” change each week. Because of this, our library, gym and music schedule does change weekly.
