Community Kindergarten
This
week we did a guided drawing of “dad”. There was also a lot of labelling
of his body parts. In kindergarten children are not expected to use
conventional spelling. Instead we focus on recording the sounds we
hear. An example of “face” could be
“fas” and “moustache” could be “mstach.”
We also played games in the learning commons with other Tuscany students
to help promote belonging in our school community. Finally, we created
our classroom color wheel. Thanks so
much to all the families who sent in items for this project!
French Kindergarten
This week we have continued learning all about the parts of our
body. We have been learning how to add details to our sentences in French so
that we are always speaking in full sentences; we have been using the sentence
starter “J’ai” and adding body parts as well as a number ex: “ J’ai deux
mains”.

Information about the upcoming Coulee Walks:
Please
make sure your child is appropriately dressed for the weather with snow pants, winter
boots, mitts and hats. We have found it helpful for children to walk
without their backpacks. This means we
are asking for a “pocket snack”, which is something simple like
fruit, granola bars, cheese strings etc… put into their coat pockets.
One
of the activities in the coulee will be listening to stories from a Blackfoot
Elder named Saa’kokoto. He has been a true gift to our school and we are
excited for the kinders this year to have an opportunity to meet him.

“Deck The Halls” - The school will be mulit-aged into groups
to create beautiful Winter art for our school. (The a.m. classes will do
their art on the following Monday)
