Our Week in Community Kindergarten:
This week we played a math game called Roll and Write. The two skills
learned were: 1. How to subitize (know at a glance) a dice. The
children had to state the value of the number they rolled and 2. The children
practiced their number formation of 1 to 6. We also had some powerful
discussions on the meaning and importance of Remembrance Day. Finally, we focused on the letter
“Dd”. Please ask your child to write it for you and show you the action.
Our Week in French Kindergarten
This week we have focused on the importance of
Remembrance day. We read the book “ C’est quoi,la paix?” and discussed what
they thought the word peace meant. Some of the answers included “ petting cats
at the cat cafe”, “quietness”, “being with my mom” and “being alone,like on a
mountain”.
We also started learning how to subitize
numbers 1-5 and using a number line as a strategy to represent a number only in
French.
We are also almost done our vowels in French, we
are focusing on how to write each letter but also how each letter sounds. We
have focused a lot on the difference between the sounds “ e” and “é” .

Friday, November 8: Remembrance Day Assembly (P.M. class attends)
If your child is a morning kinder, they are
invited to attend the ceremony (9:00 and 10:30) with an adult. They may
join the P.M. kinders for their poem at the front of the gym if they would
like.
